One of my college-age sons thinks it is really cool that I have a blog. He brags about it to his friends. I actually have found blogging to be a fun and educational way to express myself. Some of my friends think I’m pretty techie, but I’m not…I just married a techie and gave birth to some pretty high tech sons. Maybe one day they’ll blog, too! :0)
Personally, when my parents were my age, I remember thinking about things they would not try or things my grandparents would not try and thinking that I did not want to be like that. Actually, my parents do tend to try new things–both of them have and use Facebook and Skype. When microwaves first came out, I remember how hard it was to finally convince my grandmother to use one. She does now, but still hasn’t gotten hooked on computers, which is unfortunate, because I’d really like to see her online.
My first introduction to blogging came when a friend asked me to contribute something to his WordPress blog. Then, when my sons went to college, I found Facebook a great way to stay in touch. Before long, I set about developing a blog for parents and educators: The Education Cafe, my first blog. I started that in fall 2009. This year I decided it was time to have a personal blog.
Stay young, express yourself, learn to blog!
