4 Ways to Support Those Who Are Adopting

If you have friends or family members who are going through the adoption process, some of the best things you can do for them are:mom and daughter hugging, mom and girl sitting by lake

1) Validate their feelings–Adoption is an emotional roller coaster not too unlike what a pregnant woman experiences (only often for a longer period of time).

2) Read things about adoption and learn all you can. This is particularly important if you are going to be the Grandparent, Aunt/Uncle, or other relative or close friend. Look on blogs or read a memoir.

3) Pray for them for perseverance, patience, wisdom.

4) If they are raising funds, consider helping them financially or with fundraisers.
