God, Our Father, is an on time God and lavishes on us His love, compassion, kindness, and, yes, REST! Yesterday, two leaders in my local church preached on being complete in Christ and on God’s desire for us to rest in Him (and let Him work out His plan in our lives). This morning, one of my pastor’s and I discussed Psalm 37—again the concept of resting and delighting in Him and not worrying (as well as the concept of what He shall do).
Then this afternoon . . .
The UPS delivery driver showed up on my front porch with a package for me. The contents? Of course, a new book for me to review . . .
Find Rest: A women’s devotional for lasting peace in a busy life by Shaunti Feldhahn.
This hardback book by appearances alone screams — “give me as a gift to your best friend.” (Or, perhaps you can buy one as a present for Mother’s Day, if you order quickly.) This 60-day devotional book is filled with colorful pages and text, devotional thoughts, questions to reflect upon, and quotations from Max Lucado, Amy Carmichael, John Piper, Mother Teresa, Beth Moore, Billy Graham, C. S. Lewis, Priscilla Shirer, and many more.
When I first opened the book — two-thirds of the way through — I read this quote by Michele Cushatt: “We have a God who says we are enough. Just as we are.”
This went right along with my pastor’s words yesterday from Colossians on being complete in Christ. I turned back a page and read words from the author dealing with many of the life circumstances I have recently found myself facing.
I look forward to reading the other 59 daily devotional thoughts in this beautifully-crafted book. Interested in joining me? You can order Shaunti Feldhahn’s book on Amazon by following this link.
